Prepare for a River Safari
What to Wear: Good footwear such as tramping boots or sturdy shoes and bring a warm jacket. Bring along a small day pack for your group. Hat and sunglasses are handy. There are some sandflies here but they add to the character of the place – plus we have insect repellent if you need it. My recommendation is to wear long trousers and socks, they deter sandflies very well.
We also provide warm Swanndri woolen coats and gum boots if your suitcase only contains sandels and shorts.
Will the tour suit me? Some people ask if this is a thrill ride. It is definitely not, the jet boat is the mode of transport into scenery and nature so stunning that you will remember this river safari for the rest of your life.
Will I get wet? No, not from the river water. If it rains, we put a roof on the boat, we live in a rain forest so going out in the rain is a very special experience.
Children and Mature/disabilities: We can take babies from about 5 months up to any age and most abilities.
- Us, one of which is your local guide and driver.
- Life jackets that will fit you comfortably.
- Purpose built boats with a roof on if it is raining.
- Warm jacket or top.
- Sturdy footwear, such as walking shoes or hiking boots.
- A camera with plenty of memory space or extra film.
- A smile and a sense of adventure!
Check in Time: Really Important! Please arrive 30 minutes before the tour departure time. This is to allow time to check in, ask questions, park your vehicle, use the bathroom facilities and then get ready to go. The boat leaves at the tour departure time and so if you are late arriving, you will be rushing or even miss the tour. Transfers to another tour are on availability only and may incur another fare fee.
