COVID-19 safety plan

Waiatoto River Safari is open for business and remains one of the best boat tours in New Zealand, as voted by Lonely Planet.

We have had to make some adjustments to our business during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the safety of guests on our jet boat tours.

Contact tracing

We have a sign-in process before every tour commences.

In addition, the COVID-19 QR code is visible and easily accessible in our office for recording a visit.

Social distancing

Usually, people tend to experience our tour as a group within one bubble.

If there are two groups booked in for a tour they are then separated by a row of seats on board our river tour boats, meeting distancing requirements.

We live in a beautiful, remote area of the West Coast, which makes social distancing easy to achieve.

Under our DOC concession requirement (work for NZ, new part of the H&S at work act 2015) we now have a COVID-19 safety plan and a thorough cleaning programme.

We use disinfectant across all surfaces of the river tour boats and clean them each time a tour concludes.

Our toilets at the launch point for our tour are also disinfected every time after use.

Health and safety

Waiatoto River Safari Ltd has a full Safe Operational Plan which is externally audited by Maritime New Zealand and fully complies with Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.

Waiatoto River Safari runs an internal maintenance programme that surpasses external requirements and uses world-leading equipment to enable the highest safety level.
